To check the engine mounts, the engine must be raised slightly to remove the weight from the mounts. The vehicle should be raised and securely supported on jackstands. Then, a jack should be placed under the engine oil pan with a large wood block between the jack head and the oil pan to prevent damage. The engine should be raised just enough to take the weight off the mounts. The mounts should be inspected for cracked, hardened, or separated rubber, as well as any relative movement between the mount plates and the engine or frame.

Start by disconnecting the battery cable and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Support the engine and remove the through-bolts to detach the mount from the frame bracket and engine for 2WD models. For 4WD models, remove the skid plate, engine crossmember, and engine oil filter. Use an engine hoist to raise the engine slightly and take the weight off the mounts. Support the front axle with a floor jack and remove the engine mount through-bolts, as well as the bolts attaching the mounts to the front axle assembly and engine block. Lower the front axle slightly and remove the old mount. Install the new mount, ensuring correct positioning, and tighten the fasteners securely.
