There are few steps that have to be followed for the removal of the exhaust manifold These are, Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, safely lift the car using jackstands. Of course, use penetrating oil on the exhaust manifold fasteners and let it sit. For the front exhaust manifold, the coolant reservoir and the dipstick tube have to be removed, while for the rear manifold, the air cleaner assembly and the intake ducting have to be removed. Loosen the bolts and nuts holding the crossover pipe flanges to the exhaust manifolds; do this where the right manifold is being removed. In case of operating at the rear manifold: remove the exhaust pipe flange bolts, and the EGA tube. For the front manifold, unbolt and slide out the heat shield, and bolts holding the heat shield. After the removal of the exhaust manifold(s) and gasket(s) the latter has to be denoted for cracks and damages and the exhaust manifold for the same and for any carbon deposits or gasket residue, a scraper was used. When installing orient the new gasket or gaskets over the Cyl head studs accordingly to the correct side for each bank. Place the manifold and turn the mounting nuts until snug: this is best done in three or four passes from the middle toward the outside. Replace all the removed parts in the reverse order installing new gaskets for the crossover pipe connection and get a technician to start the engine to look for exhaust leaks.
