    Q:
What Steps Should You Follow to Check and Replace the Transmission Mount on Jeep Wrangler? Posted by Customer
    A:
To check the condition of the mount, insert a large screwdriver or pry bar into the space between the transfer case and the crossmember, prying on the transmission/transfer case to check for excessive looseness by attempting to lift it slightly. The transmission/transfer case should not move away from the insulator much at all; if it does, replacement is necessary. To replace the mount, remove the nuts attaching it to the crossmember and the bolts connecting it to the transmission/transfer case. Raise the transmission/transfer case slightly with a jack and remove the mount, taking note of which holes are used in the crossmember for proper alignment during installation. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, ensuring that the nuts and bolts are tightened securely.
