- Q:How to Replace the ISS or OSS Sensor on a Transmission? Posted by Customer
- A:On all models except 8-speed transmissions, the ISS and OSS sensors are located on the left side of the transmission. On 8-speed transmissions, the ISS and OSS sensors are located inside the transmission and are not serviceable by the home mechanic. To replace the ISS or OSS sensor, start by disconnecting the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Identify the sensor you wish to replace, as the ISS and OSS sensors look identical. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor and place a drain pan underneath. Remove the sensor mounting bolt and pull out the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal.
