The engine coolant temperature sensor is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the engine coolant. It is tested by measuring its resistance when the engine is cold and when it's warm. A significant difference in resistance between these two states could indicate a failure of the sensor.

The crankshaft position sensor detects engine speed and crankshaft angle for ignition timing and fuel injector control. The vehicle speed sensor sends a voltage signal to the computer to determine vehicle speed.
