Q:
How to remove and install PCV valves on Ram 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
A:
The PCV valve on a 3.6L engine is located on the end of the right (passenger's side) valve cover. To remove it, detach the hose from the PCV, then remove the screws and pull the valve from the valve cover. Installation is the reverse of removal. For a 3.7L engine, the PCV valve is at the rear of the left cylinder head. Detach the hose from the PCV valve, then unscrew and remove the valve. Replace the valve with a new one and attach the hose. On a 4.7L engine, the PCV valve is at the top rear of the left valve cover. Detach the hose from the PCV valve and use a screwdriver to remove the PCV valve from the valve cover. Replace the valve with a new one and attach the hose. For 5.7L and 6.4L engines, the PCV valve is located in the top of the intake manifold, behind and to the right of the throttle body. It has a small twist handle recessed into the valve cover. Clean around the PCV valve before removing it to avoid getting debris into the engine. Turn the PCV valve a quarter turn counterclockwise, then pull it out. If you're reusing the old valve, check the condition of the two O-rings on it and replace them if necessary. Clean the sealing surfaces of the valve cover and clean it thoroughly. Apply a little clean engine oil to the O-rings of the PCV valve. Insert the valve, then turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
