2001 Jeep Cherokee Cylinder Head Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Properly Reassemble the Cylinder Head After Valve Servicing on 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
A: Before reassembling, clean the head thoroughly. If valve servicing was done, install new seals on the intake valve guides. Install the first valve, spring seat, valve springs, shield, and retainer using a valve spring compressor. Install the O-ring oil seal in the valve stem's lower groove and position the keepers in the upper groove. Repeat for all valves. Check for leaks in the valve stem O-ring seals on V6 engines and replace if necessary. Check valve spring height and adjust with shims if needed. Apply grease to rocker arm faces and pivots, and partially install the rocker arms and pivots on the cylinder head.
