- Q: How to remove and install the intake manifold in 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engine on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?A: To remove the intake manifold at first one has to release the fuel system pressure and then disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect and unplug all the vacuum hoses running to the PCV valve, power brake booster, cruise control servo, and the evaporative emission control system; then unbolt the resonator and intake air duct from the throttle body. Remove those plugs of various sensors, ignition coils, and the Idle Air Control motor, the plugs for the alternator and air conditioning compressor. Relieve the ground straps bolted to the intake manifold and the throttle body, and the nut at oil dipstick, remove the dipstick tube. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the throttle body and the bracket, and also free the ignition coils and the fuel rails, the throttle body and the mounting bracket, at in that order. Pull the coolant through the radiator and heater hoses, take out the coolant temperature sensor to afford space to the intake manifold also pull the heater hoses. To dismantle, the intake manifold mounting fasteners have to be loosened in reverse order to the one used when tightening and more so when undoing the fasteners one should not mar the gasket sealing surfaces. The last hoses which can be labelled and disconnected that my hinder the removal should be detached and the manifold should be lifted straight up and off the engine. On installation, the sealing surfaces or gaskets need to be cleaned and checked for damage and require replacement in case of any damage. Place the manifold to the engine so that the aligns properly and fix the bolts but not fully tighten them. When they are in that order and in conformity with the tightening sequence recommended above, tighten the bolts to the indicated torque setting.
