The A/C Accumulator, which acts as a reservoir for the system refrigerant, is located on the right side of the engine compartment, next to the
Radiator and condenser. The system should be discharged before starting the removal process. The negative battery cable should be disconnected from the ground stud on the left shock tower. The refrigerant lines from the A/C Accumulator should be disconnected using a back-up wrench to prevent damage to the fittings and twisting the tubing where it joins the condenser. The open fittings should be plugged to prevent entry of dirt and moisture. The bracket bolt at the base of the A/C Accumulator should be removed, the aluminum clamp spread, and the A/C Accumulator removed. Installation is the reverse of removal. If a new A/C Accumulator is being installed, add one ounce of refrigerant oil to it before installation. The vehicle should be taken back to the shop that discharged it. The system should be evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
