- Q: How to remove and install the steering column cover and shroud on Dodge Avenger?A:Place the steering column tilt in the full upward position and remove the steering column opening cover. Detach the steering column cover mounting screws and remove the support. Place the column tilt at the full downward position as you leave the tilt lever in the released position. Remove the fasteners and release the mounting clips that hold each shroud, and remove the lower shroud. Be careful as the gap hider on the upper shroud is attached to the Instrument Cluster by four retaining tabs which can be released by hand. Place the steering column in the maximum extended position. Reach up behind the shroud gap hider and release the tabs that retain the shroud gap hider and instrument cluster. Installation is the reverse of removal.
