How to replace the crankshaft seal in a 2.7L V6 engine on Dodge Charger?

One of the characteristics of all models is the use of a one-piece rear Crankshaft Seal, which is placed in a bolted-on housing. Replacing this seal requires removal of the transmission and driveplate. These parts are considered as one and serviced together when they fail. Some special tools will be needed as well during this procedure. Get rid of the transmission and the oil pan. The driveplate needs to be detached too. The rear Crankshaft Seal housing bolts should now be removed including its housing itself. A special guide tool is used to install the new Crankshaft Seal housing onto its crankshaft. After installation, attach special alignment tools on the oil pan rails while keeping it slightly tight with bolts on the Crankshaft Seal housing; move it around evenly up against it. The tightening sequence for these retainer bolts using even pressure across the bolt head or nut ensures that surrounding areas meet torque requirements. The housing must be flush with the plane of the oil pan mating surface of the engine to prevent oil leaks. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
