The intake manifold, made of lightweight alloy, is attached to the cylinder head, pre-heating the carburettor via coolant passages. Before removal, the cooling system must be drained and the thermostat housing hose disconnected. The distributor must also be removed due to its position in the manifold flange. A new gasket and cement are needed when refitting. The cast iron exhaust manifold is on the opposite side, featuring a heat shield for the air cleaner. Its flange gaskets form heat shields. The exhaust system, varying by operating territory, is in two sections, attached to the manifold with a flanged joint. Regular corrosion checks are necessary, and sections can be independently replaced. The exhaust system is flexibly mounted.
