Disconnect the battery and the electrical leads from the wiper motor by pulling apart the connecting plug. Unscrew and remove the wiper motor mounting bolts, then use a screwdriver to prise the wiper linkage from the ball pin on the motor crankarm before withdrawing the wiper motor. To remove the linkage, withdraw the blades and arms, and then remove the heater air intake grille panel from just below the windscreen. Unbolt the wheel boxes from their mounting brackets and withdraw the linkage, noting that the wiper linkage can be removed without first withdrawing the wiper motor if there is no need to remove it. It is advisable not to dismantle the wiper motor but to obtain a new or exchange unit instead, and do not remove the motor crankarm without marking its relationship to the motor driveshaft. When refitting the motor, switch on the ignition and actuate the wiper motor using the wiper switch, then switch it off to ensure the motor is in its parked position; failing to do so may result in incorrect fitting of the
Wiper Arms to their driving spindles, potentially causing damage to the arms, blades, or bodywork when activated.
