To dismantle the
Timing Chains and sprockets, first of all, you have to remove the
Oil Pan, the windage tray and the pick up-tube. Then, while the engine is still standing, take out the primary timing chain tensioner and oil pump bolts, then the tensioner. After that, remove all the other bolts that hold the oil pump in place and apply some pressure to the housing of the pump and Wobble it a bit to get it off the crankshaft flats of the engine. First, open the front cover of the oil pump housing , unscrew it , and clean all the components with solvent, inspecting for signs of wear and damage. The oil pressure relief valve and spring are part of the oil pump housing; when they are removed, the pump is ruined and the assembly has to be replaced. Provided below is a list of the clearance and various measurements that have to be taken with a feeler gauge and micrometer or a dial caliper They are: Cover Flatness, Rotor dimensions and Clearance. If any of the above measurements transgress their specified measures, replace the complete oil pump assembly. To prime the oil pump, the rotor cavities should be filled with clean engine oil and the pump assembled and all the fasteners tightened to the appropriate torque setting. For installation you need to put the flats of the rotor against the flats of the crankshaft Then, push the oil pump to the block. Last of all, place the primary timing chain tensioner above the oil pump, tighten the appropriate bolts to a certain torque level, and the rest of the procedure depends on the reverse of the process of the removal of most of the parts.
