- Q: How to check and replace the transmission mount on Dodge Nitro?A:It is mounted on the underside of the case towards the rear portion of the transmission. Start by lifting the car using jack and put it on jackstands in the right manner. While you are under it, and for most of you listening this is not you, insert a large screwdriver or prybar in between the transmission and the crossmember to check the mount the second way is to pry the transmission up slightly and look for cracks in the rubber as there should be very little movement between the center of the mount and the rubber insulator.
