- Q: How to remove and install Shifter in 6 speed transmisson on Dodge Ram 3500?A:Disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). Remove the center console and storage tray. Disconnect the power outlet harness electrical connector and the shifter harness electrical connector. Twist the lower trim piece on the base of the shifter counterclockwise and push down to disengage the trim piece. Remove the shifter. Disconnect the electrical connector lamp from PRNDL bezel. Release the clips on the PRNDL bezel and remove the bezel. Disconnect the shift cable retainer from the bracket. Disconnect the shift cable end from the shifter lever. Remove the shifter lever assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
