To assess camshaft wear, measure the lobe lift without removing the camshaft. Also, removal of the Lash Adjusters requires taking out the radiator, fan, fan shroud, and condenser assembly. The distributor, front bumper, or grille may also need removal. Label and remove spark plug wires, then the cylinder head. Remove and store valve Lash Adjusters separately, and remove the timing chain and sprockets. Carefully pull out the camshaft, supporting it to avoid bearing damage. Inspect the camshaft, Lash Adjuster, and bearings as per specifications. If bearing replacement is needed, take the engine block to a machine shop. Lubricate the camshaft journals and lobes before installation. Slide the camshaft into the engine, avoiding damage to the bearings. Installation is the reverse of removal.
