Jeep Compass Clutch Slave Cylinder

The Clutch Slave Cylinder is an important part in the Jeep Compass vehicles especially in the manual transmission system where it works hand-in-hand with the Clutch master cylinder to withdraw the clutch whenever the pedal is squeezed. This hydraulic part transmits the force exerted by the driver as hydraulic pressure that optimizes a rod which in turn exerts pressure on a lever or a fork to enable safe shifting processes. For the same year Jeep Compass models have hydraulic clutch slave cylinders that are useful in making the transmissions smooth. Miscreations in the clutch slave cylinder lead all types of problems in shifting gears and even harm the transmission of a car which necessitates its repair with the utmost priority for safe and better driving. Daily examinations on look out for any signs of wear or any fluid leakage should be made in order to OF the Jeep Compass Clutch Slave Cylinder.

Jeep Compass Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove, inspect, and install the Clutch Slave Cylinder and Release Bearing assembly on the Jeep Compass?
    A:
Don't allow brake fluid to come into contact with paint as it will damage the finish. Removal: Disconnect the hydraulic quick-connect fitting from the clutch slave cylinder. Remove the transaxle. Remove the modular clutch assembly. Disconnect the clutch hydraulic line from the bleeder, then detach the bleeder from the clutch slave cylinder. Remove the bolts securing the clutch slave cylinder to the transaxle and slide the clutch slave cylinder assembly off the transaxle input shaft. Inspection: Hold the bearing by the outer race and rotate the inner race while applying pressure. If the bearing doesn't turn smoothly or if it's noisy, replace the clutch slave cylinder/bearing assembly with a new one. Wipe the bearing with a clean rag and inspect it for damage, wear, and cracks. Installation: Installation is the reverse of the removal steps with the following additions: Install the clutch slave cylinder mounting bolts and tighten them in three steps. Install the bleeder assembly and the hydraulic line. Using moly-base grease, lightly lubricate the face of the clutch bearing where it contacts the fingers of the pressure plate diaphragm spring. Lightly lubricate the spines of the transaxle input shaft. Install the modular clutch assembly. Install the transaxle. Connect the hydraulic line and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir, adding fluid if necessary, until the level is correct. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
