There are three powertrain mounts on the vehicle, include left and right engine mount to the engine block and frame and a rear mount to the transmission and frame. Engine mounts are generally ignored but any damaged or worn out mount should be replaced without fail as this affects the drive shafts and their accessories. To check the mounts one has to lift the engine a bit off the bay to shift some of the weight off the mounts. Start by safely, jacking up the automobile with the help of jack stands and placing a jack below the engine oil sump with a wide and large wooden plank in the middle. pick up the engine just a bit to take the weight off of the mounts, then try to move the inner and outer part of the mount apart using a large screwdriver or prybar. In case of movement, lower the engine and lightly tighten the mount fasteners. The regularly examined mounts for indications of separation of the rubber and metal casing, cracks, hardening of rubber and apply rubber preservative to prolong their working span. For replacement, remove the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, remove the engine cooling fan and shroud and safely support the front part of the vehicle with jackstands. A lot of care should be taken to ensure that cooling fan and fan clutch has been flown off before lifting the engine to avoid this. Place a lifting device on the engine from above without connecting it to the intake manifold and lift the engine only slightly to take weight off the engine mounts. In case of taking out the driver side engine mount, then it has been observed that the oil filter has to be taken out as well. Underneath the car, the through bolt then those bolts that connect the mount to the engine block should be removed, then the engine should be raised and the mounts withdrawn past the frame bracket. The studs of engine mount support brackets can be easily disconnected from the frame by the removal of bolts and the separation of the brackets from the engine compartment. Following the installation of a new engine mounts on the engine, lower the engine in a way the engine mount and through-bolt locate the frame support bracket then tighten the through-bolt to the recommended torque setting. The rest of the installation process goes in the same sequence of the removal, and the process is completed by the removal of the hoist and jackstands before the vehicle is lowered.
