What equipment is needed to test the ignition control modules used with the Jeep Wrangler?

To test ignition control modules, an approved tester (Tester J-24642E or equivalent) is required. Without it, testing is not feasible for home mechanics. If available, follow manufacturer's instructions. For four-cylinder models, remove the ignition coil and two screws attaching the module to the coil frame. For six-cylinder models, disconnect the module's electrical connectors, remove the mounting screws and the module from the firewall. Installation is the reverse of removal.
