    Pour out the oil from the old compressor into a graduated container. Add the same amount of new refrigerant oil to the new compressor. Follow any directions included with the new compressor. Transfer the clutch from the original to the new compressor if necessary.

    How do you remove and replace the A/C Compressor in your 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan air conditioning system? Posted by Customer

    First, discharge the system. Then, disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Next, unplug the electrical connector from the compressor clutch. Remove the drivebelt. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor, making sure to plug the open fittings. Unbolt the compressor from the mounting bracket and lift it out of the vehicle. If installing a new compressor, transfer the clutch from the original one. Before installation, pour out the oil from the old compressor and add the same amount of new refrigerant oil to the new compressor. Replace all O-rings with new ones made for air conditioning systems and lubricate them with refrigerant oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by a professional.
