Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Detach the instrument panel bezel. Remove the radio. On 1987 through 1995 models, remove the mounting screws from the center section of the instrument panel. On 1997 through 2011 models, remove the glove box and on 2007 and later models the center bezel. On 1987 through 1995 models, slide out the assembly and unplug the electrical connectors. On 1997 and later models, remove the four control assembly mounting bolts, pull out the assembly slightly, reach through the glove box opening and disconnect the two halves of the A/C switch/air conditioning vacuum harness connector. On 1987 through 1995 models, release the control cable locking tab with a screwdriver. On 1987 through 1995 models, detach the ring on the end of the control cable from the arm on the bottom of the control panel. On 1997 and later models, pull out the A/C switch/air conditioning assembly a little more and unplug the three electrical connectors from the backside of the assembly. Remove the A/C switch/air conditioning assembly. On 2012 and later models, the A/C switch and heater controller is mounted to the back side of the center bezel. Once the bezel is removed the controller mounting screws can be removed and the controller separated from the bezel. Installation is the reverse of removal.
