Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and remove the cooling fans and shroud assembly. Take off the drivebelts and position the belt tensioner away from the crankshaft pulley. Use a strap wrench around the crankshaft pulley to hold it while employing a breaker bar and socket to remove the center bolt; a chain-type wrench may also be used if an old drivebelt or rag is wrapped around the pulley first. Pull the Harmonic Balancer off the crankshaft with a three jaw puller, ensuring the jaws only contact the hub of the pulley and not the outer ring. To prevent damage to the crankshaft threads, screw a long Allen-head bolt into the crankshaft nose for the puller's tapered tip to push against. Check the surface on the pulley hub where the oil seal rides; if it is grooved, a press-on sleeve may be available to renew the sealing surface, which can be pressed into place with a hammer and a block of wood. Lubricate the pulley hub with clean engine oil, align the slot in the pulley with the key on the crankshaft, and push the crankshaft pulley onto the crankshaft as far as it will go, using a Harmonic Balancer installation tool to press it the rest of the way. Install the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt and tighten it to the specified torque, then complete the installation in reverse order of removal.

If you have reached a stage where you require to, then the initial step would be to unplug the cable on the battery's negative terminal. Third, disconnect the air filter housing, and the coolant recovery bottle/washer fluid reservoir. One then removes the cooling fan shroud by unbolting it and straightforwardly releasing the electrical connector to the electric fan. Next, then unbol, fan/viscous fan drive assembly is removed and then the drivebelt and the power steering drivebelt are removed. Go on and take out the crankshaft pulley-to-crankshaft bolt. Place adapter #9020 or its equivalent into the end of the crankshaft, engage the three jaw puller to the inner hub of the crankshaft balancer and pull it off the crankshaft but do not attach the puller to the outer rim of the pulley as this will cause damage to the pulley. Then use an installation torque key that screws into the crank shaft in place of the crank shaft pulley bolt; Be sure to apply clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease to the contact surfaces of the seal lip of the damper hub in order to avoid damaging of the seal lip and Oil leakage. In its absence, the crankshaft pulley bolt with washers as spacers could be used, the torque limit should not be exceeded. Last, take out the tool, replace the crankshaft pulley bolt and tighten it to the recommended torque and replace the rest of the parts in the reverse manner.
