Taking off the cable, remove it from the negative terminal of the battery. Take off the engine drivebelt and let out the coolant, take off the upper radiator hose and the engine cooling fan. Get out the huge bolt joining the large harmonic balancer to the crankshaft while using a chain wrench round the pulley so that the crankshaft will not turn, and ensure that there is a piece of rubber in between the wrench and the harmonic balancer. With a proper puller remove the harmonic balancer, ensure that outer edge of the puller does not stick on the pulley and the screw of the puller does not touch the threads on the crankshaft nose. If the seal is to be removed and the cover is still fixed on the engine block, this is removed using a seal removal tool or a large screw driver being keen not to harm the area where the seal fits. To install the seal, the bore must be cleaned since it can have old seal material and corrosion, then fit the new seal such that the lip is inside and applying a little oil to the outside of the seal can help in the fitting process. Tighten the seal into the bore with a seal driver or a large socket and hammer until the seal is in a perfect position on the cover flange. Those that have appearances such as grooves on its surface, need the harmonic balancer replacing. Coat the seal lips with engine oil and replace the harmonic balancer keying the Woodruff into the hub and installing the special tool to press it onto splined crank. Put on the harmonic balancer bolt and torque it to the recommended figure. The rest of the installation process is as the removal process in a reverse order until you refill the cooling system.
