    Q:
What is the role of the Turn Signal Flasher and How to replace it on Chrysler Cirrus? Posted by Customer
    A:
The turn signal hazard flasher is a small unit which can be found behind the multi-function switch mounted inside the steering column. It produces a clicking noise during operation and if it is non-functioning or a turn signal circuit is only partially complete, the flasher speed is accelerated. If nowhere does the turn signal blink, the possible problems could include a blown fuse, a bad flasher unit, or a bad switch, or loose connection. One should check the fuse rapidly in the box and if that one, which is used for turn signal is faulty then one should check the wiring for any short and then replace the fuse. If the fuse is good, the turn signal light bulbs should be replaced and the operation of the bulbs should be checked by hooking the bulbs to a 12 volt battery. If the bulbs are functioning, then, the turn signal section of the multi-function switch as well as the wiring harness should be tested for continuity. To replace the flasher the steering wheel column covers must be taken off to get to turn signal/hazard combo flasher sits behind the multi-function switch. Each of these elements is described further below The flasher unit can be drawn out of the multi-function switch if needed. To guarantee that the replacement flasher unit will not be different in any way, it recommended to compare the two units to be installed. The new flasher unit should be inserted into the multi-function switch and make sure it can seat properly and the cover of the steering wheel column should be attached again.

    Q:
What Common Issues and Replacement Steps Should You Know About the Turn Signal Flasher on Dodge Neon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The turn signal and the hazard flasher knob is a single combination unit and if it is working fine, it makes a clicking sound. If further one turn signal fails and the clicker does not click or if while making regular turn signals, one of the bulbs flashes much faster while the other does not light at all, very high probability the turn signal bulbs are at fault. That is why if both of the turn signals do not blink, it may be a fuse, a flasher unit, a turn signal switch or some other turn signal related part that is bad. One can get to the fuse box and discover a problem; a bad turn signal fuse should be checked for a short before replacing it. To remove the flasher, the upper steering column cover must be removed, then the electrical connector should be disconnected and the flasher unit should be pulled out of the mounting bracket which is on the top of the steering column behind the multi-function switch. Make sure that the taking out unit is a perfect match of the unit being replaced prior to installation as is the process in the reverse order of removal.

    Q:
How to diagnose and replace turn signal flashers on Jeep Wrangler? Posted by Customer
    A:
For models from 1987 to 1995, the turn signal flasher, located in the fuse block, flashes the turn signals and produces an audible click when functioning properly; if one side fails and the clicking sound is absent, a faulty bulb is indicated. If both signals do not blink, the issue may stem from a blown fuse, faulty flasher unit, broken switch, or loose connection, and a blown fuse should be checked for shorts before replacement. To replace the flasher, pull it out and ensure the new unit matches the old one before installation, which is done in reverse order. The hazard flasher operates similarly, flashing all four turn signals when activated, and is replaced in the same manner. For models from 1997 to 2006, the turn signal and hazard flashers are combined into a single unit, requiring disconnection of the negative battery cable. For 1997 to 2000 models, the knee blocker must be removed, followed by unscrewing the combination flasher bracket from the steering column, lowering it slightly to disconnect from the wiring harness, and removing it as a single assembly since the new flasher includes a new bracket. For 2001 to 2006 models, the lower steering column cover is removed, the column is lowered, and the upper cover is taken off before pulling the flasher unit from the multi-function switch. For models from 2007 and later, the turn signal and hazard flasher functions are integrated into the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM), eliminating the need for a replaceable flasher unit.
