To remove the latch first, you are required to unbolt the bracket attaching the latch to the radiator support then, disconnect the latch assembly. Then, loosen the hood release cable and put a marker on the position of the hood latch before removing the bolts. When installing, do it the other way round of how it was removed. As for handling the cable, the steps include: the first is to release the end of the cable and then move the cable case in the keyhole slot of the hood latch with the help of pinching the barb present in the cable case ends; if you are troubling to release the end of the cable then the sequence must be reversed. Disconnect the cable from the latch, then, in the passenger compartment, remove the bolts and release the hood release handle and thus sever the connection between the cable end. under the dash you may have to take off the rubber cable which insulates it from the hole in the dash panel. Thread a long string or wire thru the engine compartment end of the cable, remove the cable from various clips and pull it through the fire wall into the passenger area. Attach the string or wire to the new cable and pass it through the firewall into the engine compartment and similarly, re-establish the connection by performing the reverse of the aforesaid procedure.
