Door latch strikers are also required to be greased with slight grease coating to prevent wear and ensure that they move freely. Locks for the doors and trunks should be sprayed with graphite based lubricant.

    How can the outside handle be removed from the Door Latch Assembly for the 2017 Ram 1500? Posted by Customer

    To remove the outside handle, disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s) and remove the carrier plate. Disconnect the two control rods from the handle and remove the door handle bolts from the inside of the door, then remove the handle.

    Detach the clips at the bottom edge of the glass from the window regulator lift plates. Raise the glass to the top and secure it in place using tape strips over the top of the door. Disconnect the main wiring connector inside the door and pull the rubber wiring grommet off of the door jamb. Push the lock tabs in until they're flush using a small screwdriver and gently manipulate the connector out of the hole in the metal.
