To undo the exhaust manifold here are some steps; There are two bolts connecting it to the vehicle and the first step would be to have the ion cable disconnected from the battery for safety. engage the rear wheels, pull the parking brake, lift the front part of the car and fix it firmly with jackstands. Loosen the nuts on the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold, and then take off both the heat shields. Subsequently, disengage the bolts holding the mounting and then remove the manifold from the car. In installation, the adjoining surfaces should be free from gasket residue and the manifold should ideally be free from warpage and cracks which can be checked with a straight edge. The above fluctuations should be a sign that the manifold should be taken to an automotive machine shop for resurfacing if a feeler gauge of thickness more than 0.030-inch can fit between the straight edge and flange surface. Place the exhaust manifold back and bolt on a new gasket and just tighten the mount bolts by hand. Start to give the bolts on the center then radially in about half turn intervals to the desired torque and the same applies for the heat shield bolts. Last, reinstall the other part in a reverse manner, start the engine and inspect for exhaust leak around the manifold and cylinder head and also around the manifold and the exhaust pipe.
