    Q:
How to remove and install Oil Pump in 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engine on Dodge Dakota? Posted by Customer
    A:
This procedure involves complete removal of timing chains and sprockets and to begin, the oil pan, wind age tray and the pick-up tube should be removed. Last, undo the primary timing chain tensioner and oil pump bolts and then the tensioner itself. Subsequently, remove all the remaining bolts of the oil pump and then, carefully taping on the oil pump housing off the crankshaft flats in order for the oil pump to be removed from the context of the engine. For example, to perform an inspection of the oil pump, twist the cover and quickly lift it up to remove it, next have all the components cleaned with a solvent and examine for wear or damage. Watch out that the oil pressure relief valve and spring are part of the oil pump housing; pull it out and the oil pump is shot and you'll have to put in an all new assembly. Use a straightedge, feeler gauge, and micrometer to make measurements of cover flatnes, outer rotor diameter and thickness, inner rotor thickness, outer rotor- body distance, inner rotor-to-outer rotor tip distance, and side clearances. It should be noted that, if any of the mentioned measures exceeds certain parameters, the oil pump assembly should be replaced. To prepare the oil pump, apply petroleum jelly into the cavities present around the rotor and bolt the pump in place ensuring all nuts are tightened to the recommended torque. For installation, slide the flats of the clutch rotor into the crankshaft flats and then fit the oil pump into place against the block. Lastly, snap the primary timing chain tensioner over the oil pump, put the pump-to-block bolts back in and tighten the oil pump and primary timing chain tensioner bolts to the required torque in steps from step two.

    Q:
How to remove and install Oil Pump in 3.7L V6 engine on Dodge Nitro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To dismantle the timing chains and sprockets, first of all, you have to remove the oil pan, the windage tray and the pick up-tube. Then, while the engine is still standing, take out the primary timing chain tensioner and oil pump bolts, then the tensioner. After that, remove all the other bolts that hold the oil pump in place and apply some pressure to the housing of the pump and Wobble it a bit to get it off the crankshaft flats of the engine. First, open the front cover of the oil pump housing , unscrew it , and clean all the components with solvent, inspecting for signs of wear and damage. The oil pressure relief valve and spring are part of the oil pump housing; when they are removed, the pump is ruined and the assembly has to be replaced. Provided below is a list of the clearance and various measurements that have to be taken with a feeler gauge and micrometer or a dial caliper They are: Cover Flatness, Rotor dimensions and Clearance. If any of the above measurements transgress their specified measures, replace the complete oil pump assembly. To prime the oil pump, the rotor cavities should be filled with clean engine oil and the pump assembled and all the fasteners tightened to the appropriate torque setting. For installation you need to put the flats of the rotor against the flats of the crankshaft Then, push the oil pump to the block. Last of all, place the primary timing chain tensioner above the oil pump, tighten the appropriate bolts to a certain torque level, and the rest of the procedure depends on the reverse of the process of the removal of most of the parts.

    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the Oil Pump in four cylinder engine on Jeep Liberty? Posted by Customer
    A:
When removing the timing belt, timing belt covers, and crankshaft front seal, one has to pull off the oil pan and pick-up tube/screen. Then, you can remove the oil pump assembly from the engine by unbolting the mountings; and if you cannot get it off easily, the prudent way is to give it a couple of taps with a soft-faced hammer or pry on the casting boss. Pull out the crankshaft oil seal from the oil pump with a screwdriver cover with a rag and be sure not to spoil the seal bore on the body of the pump. Then unbolt the cover and take it off and to prevent any damage to the inner and outer rotor, they should be pulled out of the body carefully. Immersion clean all the component with solvent and check for signs of wear or damage. Here, unscrew the relief valve by unbolting the cap bolt and the washer as well as the spring and the valve in order to inspect for signs of having to be replaced. Be very careful when reassembling to see to it that the relief valve is reinstalled properly so as not to damage the engine. Check the oil pumps' clearance, both the housing and rotors, with a micrometer and feeler gauge, after that lubricate them with clean engine oil before placing them. Pour the oil into the rotor cavities of the oil pump so that the oil is pressed through the layer of the material coating the rotor blades; place the cover on the oil pump and screw it in place. Check and, if necessary, replace the O-ring in the oil discharge passage; apply sealant to the oil pump body and place the rotor in coaxial position with respect to the crankshaft before tightening of the bolts. They include crankshaft seal, pick-up tube/strainer assembly, oil pan, crankshaft sprocket, rear timing belt cover and the timing belt. Last but not the least, replace an oil filter, put fresh engine oil, run the engine and examine for oil pressure and drop and examine the quantity of the new engine oil.

    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump in 4.0L V6 engine on Jeep Liberty? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the oil pump pinch the cable of negative terminal from the battery, then using the jack and jackstands lift the front end of the car so that the front wheels are off the ground and secure it, engage the parking brake and block the rear wheels. The relativist approach to ICCs has been drained of its engine oil and the cooling system, and has excluded the under-vehicle splash shield, the oil pan, the timing belt and the crankshaft sprocket. Then remove the pick-up tube, then the oil pump mounting bolts and oil pump and dispose the pick-up tube O-ring. For testing, clean all parts well in solvent and check for any damages on rotors, pump cover as well as housing; if there is need to replace, do so. Check the oil pump cover for warpage on a straight edge utilising a feeler gauge and if found to be beyond the acceptable warPAGE limit replace the pump. Check the thickness of the outer rotor and the inner rotor and change the pump if either of them is less than the standard amount. Measurements of the clearance between the outer rotor and the housing, and the lobes of the inner and outer rotors, should be taken and if they exceed the maximum allowable limits, the pump should be replaced. Also, ensure the following; the clearance between the surface of the oil pump cover and the rotors, the pump must be replaced if the limit is exceeded. To install, replace the pump cover, apply sealer on the threads of the cover bolts, and tighten the bolts to the required torque value, the sealer should be applied only up to the 1/4 inch of the cover bolt threads. Bolts should be tightened to a particular torque and after doing so, a new O-ring seal must be fitted on the pick-up tube before being installed. Install the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket and put back the other parts in the reverse manner in which they were removed. And, add the engine oil and replace the oil filter as well.
