All models come standard with an SRS front impact airbag that provides main protection for the driver and the occupant on the front passenger seat during a head-on collision. The SRS is command by the Occupant Restraint Controller, known as Airbag Control Module, positioned in the centre of the car. It has the driver's air bag in the steering wheel, the passenger air bag in the Instrument Panel and side curtain air bags which can be optional along the side windows. This is initiated by front impact sensors and it has part such as the clock spring, which provides electrical signals to the airbags. Also also, the front seat belt retractors contain the seat belt pretensioner, which ratchets the belts during the inflation of the airbags. The driver side air bag consisting of an inflater module is fixed on the steering wheel, and the passenger side air bag is comparatively larger and positioned on the instrument panel. On the options list are window airbags located above the windows and activated by six side-impact sensors. Some models may also include occupant supplemental inflatable restraints which are situated in the front seat backs. The ORC/ACM sends current to the SRS during a collision and reads the system at start-up by the AIRBAG readiness light. Whenever there is any work to be done close to any of the airbags it is important that the system be deactivated and appropriate measures taken when handling the airbags so as not to trigger them off. The removal and installation of different components should be done by technicians, other airbag modules require the contact with a dealer or a qualified repair shop, while live airbags should be disposed.
