- A:With the vehicle on the ground, check for any movement in the balljoint grease fitting by wiggling it around the tire. If there is any play, the balljoint is worn out. To further inspect the balljoints, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, ensuring the tires are not touching the ground. Grasp the tire at the top and bottom and try to rock it in and out while an assistant checks for any play in the balljoints. Any movement indicates the need for balljoint replacement. It's important to note that the balljoints on these vehicles cannot be serviced or removed from the control arms. If a balljoint is faulty, the entire control arm must be replaced. However, the balljoint seal can be replaced by prying off the old seal and pressing a new one into place using a socket that fits the outer circumference of the seal.
