2006 and later V6 engines do not have an accelerator cable, as these engines have an electronic throttle body, operated by the PCM, which receives input from the Accelerator Pedal Position sensor at the accelerator pedal. To remove the accelerator cable, start by removing the air intake duct/resonator from the throttle body. Then, rotate the throttle lever to the wide-open position and detach the cable end. Use a small screwdriver to press the tab and release the accelerator cable retainer from the bracket, sliding the cable out of the bracket. Underneath the dash, remove the plastic retainer clip and detach the cable from the accelerator pedal. Remove the metal clip securing the cable to the firewall. Detach the cable from the routing clip(s) and push it through the firewall into the engine compartment. Finally, detach the cable from the routing clips and remove it from the engine compartment. Installation is the reverse of removal.
