- A:Have the system discharged and the refrigerant recovered by an air conditioning technician. Disconnect the negative battery cable and raise the front of the vehicle. Remove the front wheels and wheel well splash shields, as well as the accessory drivebelt. Disconnect the wire harness connected to the air conditioning compressor. Remove the fasteners securing the air conditioning lines to the compressor and detach the refrigerant lines. Plug all open fittings to prevent dirt and moisture entry.
