For all the models ranging from 1987 to 1995 begin by removing the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Subsequently, one has to disconnect the turn signal/hazard warning switches and further the ignition key lamp assembly. Move the lock cylinder to the 'On' position. For 1990 and earlier models locating of a retaining screw will make the cylinder to be withdrawn from the steering column. As for the 1991 and later models, one has to use a thin screwdriver and push on the spring latch to take out the cylinder. Place the lock cylinder into position and then install the screw for the pre-1990 vehicles and be sure to tighten it. The process by which locks are installed is the exact opposite of how they are removed. For models from 1997 through 2000, remove the battery negative terminal a and if the vehicle has automatic transmission put the shift lever in the park position. Insert a small screwdriver or pin punch in the access hole in the lower steering column cover and push the relaease tang on the key lock cylinder to the right while withdrawing the same/rightarrow The replacement of the key lock cylinder is as follows, making sure it correctly locks in, with a snap. If the below 2000 vehicle model key does not turn easily then there arises a problem that does not affect the switch or the lock cylinder, but can include; the shifter interlock cable or a bad button at the back of the key cylinder for the 2001 models and later. Remove the negative cable, put the key into the ignition, and put the shifter in 'park' if the car's transmission is automatic. Repeat and remove the steering column covers, turn the key to ON position, and if logistics has been done then remove the halo ring and keyless entry module. Put slightly forceful punch on the hole available at the base of the switch and at the same time remove the key, this gives access to the cylinder to be pulled out. If the old cylinder has to be replaced, the key is inserted and turned to the On position and the cylinder is placed as straight as possible within the housing and than fitted in to place. Lastly, adjust the key to the Lock position and then follow the steps mentioned above in reverse manner.
