- A:Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, support it securely on jackstands and remove the wheels. Remove the brake drum or disc. Remove the grease cap. Remove the wheel bearing locknut. Remove the hub and bearing assembly from the spindle. Before installing the hub and bearing assembly, clean the spindle and apply a coat of wheel bearing grease to the area on the spindle where the bearing rides. Installation is the reverse of removal. Install a new hub nut and tighten it to the torque. On models with rear disc brakes, tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the torque. Install the wheel and lug nuts.
