This procedure can be done to either of the lateral arms of the apparatus. First, the lift of the car should be done by placing it on jack stands and also locking the rear wheels while blocking the front ones. Location of toe adjustment cam so that the proper toe of the rear wheel is maintained. The front lateral arms should have the word "FORWARD" stamped on the front part of the arm; if this stamping is not readily visible, make your own mark before disassembly, and also mark the arms as LEFT and RIGHT for proper orientation on reassembly. Just take out the nut and washer of the through-bolt fixing the lateral arms to the rear knuckle as well as pulling out the through-bolt. Subsequently, take out the lateral arm pivot bolt nut and washer and then pull out the pivot bolt and toe adjustment cam; from this, it should be noticed that the lateral arm pivot bolt is longer than the through-bolt. When you unbolster the front and rear lateral arms look for any sign of damage; and if one of the arms is bent it must be replaced and all the rubber bushings must also be checked for cracks of signs of wear. When installing it is preferably to fit the old arms in their previous positions or, should the parts have been replaced with newly forged ones, the word 'FORWARD' must be readable on the new front arms while the larger diameter bushing of the rear arms lies at the middle. The left rear arm can be left as installed and its faces should lie in the forward direction. In installation, all fasteners are tightened without undergoing torqueing in their reverse as removal processes. Lift one of the knuckle with the help of floor jack installing it in its normal position on the vehicle, thereafter tighten the lateral arm bolts and nuts within the recommended torque. Last, fix the wheel and lug nuts, drop the vehicle, tighten the lug nuts to the torque, and check the rear wheel alignment and adjust if need be.
