It is composed of an antenna mast of a extendable type, and it can be unscrewed to accommodate a new one if it has been damaged, using a small wrench to remove it. When unscrewing the mast, tighten the new one just enough to fit finger tight and afterwards turn the wrench. Remove the antenna cable by disconnecting it from the radio, then take a string or wire and fasten it to the radio end of the cable and then disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For models from 1997 and earlier, simply turn the antenna mast counter clockwise, if you can't turn it, loosen the screw on the base of the radio to remove it and gain access to the base screws. Take off the antenna pad and mast assembly and pull the cable out through the hole of body. Screw the string or wire to the new cable and feed it into the passenger compartment; then replace the antenna pad and mast assembly. Last, if need to hook up the antenna cable to the radio connect it, put the radio back in and connect the battery negative terminal.
