The intake manifold temperature sensor is a thermistor that changes its resistance values in accordance with temperature changes. This directly affects the voltage signal from the sensor to the PCM. When the sensor temperature increases, the resistance values decrease, and when the sensor temperature decreases, the resistance values increase. On 2.4L four-cylinder engines, the sensor is located on the rear lower part of the intake manifold, while on 2007 and earlier 3.7L V6 engines, it is located on the left side of the intake manifold. For 2007 and earlier Liberty models, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor mounting bolts from the intake manifold to remove the intake manifold temperature sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal. For all Nitro and 2008 and later Liberty models, the intake manifold temperature sensor is installed into the rubber air intake tube near the throttle body or beginning of the air filter housing. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out of the air filter housing or air intake resonator. Check the condition of the sensor O-ring and replace if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.
