- A:On 948TE/9HP48(9-speed) transaxles, the speed sensors are an integral part of the automatic transaxle valve body, requiring the removal of the valve body to replace them. For 40TE and 41TE transaxles, the input speed sensor is located closest to the engine, while the output speed sensor is on the far left (driver's side). To replace either sensor, disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the sensor from the case, and if reusing the same sensor, replace the old O-ring with a new one. The installation process is the reverse of removal, ensuring the sensor is tightened to the specified torque. On 62TE transaxles, the input speed sensor is located on the top of the transaxle, while the output speed sensor/transfer shaft speed sensor is on the left rear side. Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the retaining bolt, and remove the sensor from the case. The sensor closest to the engine is the input speed sensor and the sensor on the far right end (driver's side) is the output speed sensor. To replace the input speed sensor, disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor from the case. If reusing the same sensor, remove the old O-ring and install a new one. For the output speed sensor, disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor from the case. Again, if reusing the same sensor, remove the old O-ring and install a new one.
