Remove the blower motor. Remove the relay panel above the glove compartment opening. Through the glove compartment opening, disconnect the air conditioning vacuum line connector and the radio noise capacitor connectors. Remove the trim cover from the left windshield pillar. Remove the trim cover from the left lower side cowl. Remove the attaching screws from the hood release handle mechanism. Remove the trim covers from the steering column. Disconnect the connecting rod from the parking brake release mechanism. Remove the left lower silencer from the instrument panel. Remove the left lower reinforcement from the instrument panel. Remove the center bezel from the dash. Remove the forward floor console. Remove the radio. Remove the A/C switch. Remove the cigarette lighter. Remove the message center-trip computer, if equipped. Disconnect the side window demister tubes from the top of the A/C switch unit. Remove the upper attaching bolts from the steering column and allow the steering wheel to rest on the driver's seat. Remove the cover from the upper defroster outlet in the dash. Remove the upper attaching screws for the dash. Loosen the lower left attaching screw from the dash. Remove the lower right attaching screw from the dash. Carefully pull out the right end of the dash and allow it to rest on the passenger's seat. From the engine compartment, drain the cooling system and disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core pipes. Plug the pipes to avoid spilling coolant inside the vehicle. Unplug the electrical connector and disconnect the refrigerant lines from the expansion valve at the firewall on the right side of the vehicle. Seal the refrigerant lines to prevent contamination. Remove the expansion valve from the evaporator plate. Seal the valve to avoid contamination. Remove the condensate drain tube. Remove the silencer for the A/C switch unit from the dash panel and remove the A/C switch assembly from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to refill the cooling system and recharge the air conditioning system.
