  A: These models use a single-piece rear Crankshaft Seal seated between the engine block and the lower main bearing cap assembly known as a bed plate. In order to change the Crankshaft Seal, one needs to pull off the transmission and the drive plate. The seal can be brought out by using a screwdriver to loosen it from the engine block, but care has to be taken not to make scratches on the crankshaft; a seal removal tool or by wrapping the head of the screwdriver with tape may be used. Before pulling out the seal, one should measure the depth of the created seal groove in the housing bore so they can decently install the new seal in place. The seal bore in the block should be wiped down so that there are no traces of oil and dirt, and this should be done using a shop towel. The seal has to be greased with clean engine oil before it is fitted over the crankshaft with the lip facing the engine. With the seal installation tool , if one is not available in a plumbing supply house, use a large socket, section of pipe, or any blunt putter to ram the new seal down to the bottom of the seal bore and leveled up with the rear portion of the engine block.
