Take off the shift knob, the shiny part under the shift lever, the part covering the shifter, and the plastic trim around the center console. When your car has a manual transmission, you must take out the gearshift as well. Unscrew all internal storage fasteners, as well as the two external fasteners underneath their caps. Unscrew each side clipping that keeps the console panel in place on the instrument panel. Also take off two screws that hold the manual Park release part into place on automatic-transmission cars.
