First, one needs to unscrew the wheel lug nuts, engage the parking brake, lift the front of the car and set it on jack stands before finally removing the front wheel. Then unscrew the nut at the tie-rod end stud but if the stud rotates, clamp it using a spanner. Place the lock pliers or the wrench on the tie-rod so as to gather and twist the jam nut enough to align the tie-rod end with the tie-rod threads , you'll then release the pliers and retrace the length of the threads with your pencil. Steering Knuckle, by unscrewing the nut of the tie rod end stud and applying the two jaw puller to push the stud and free the tie-rod using the recorded technique of how the heat shield is fixed to the knuckle arm. Remove the tie-rod end from the tie-rod, then, screw the tie-rod end to the marked position and then having the tie-rod stud through to the steering knuckle arm while ensuring the heat shield is properly placed hence lock the jam nut tightly. Place the nut over the stud and tighten to the manufactures recommended torque and then place the wheel, lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to the manufactures recommended torque. Last but not the least, get the wheels alignment and have it done if there is a need too.
