To begin, relieve the fuel system pressure. Next, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and securely place it on jackstands. Loosen the hose clamps for the fuel filler neck hose and the EVAP fuel vent hose, and disconnect both hoses from their metal pipes. If there is still fuel in the tank, use a siphoning kit to remove it through the rubber fuel filler neck hose. Disconnect the wiring and quick-connect fuel lines from the fuel tank. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or floor jack, using a piece of wood to protect the tank. Remove the fuel tank retaining strap nuts and both retaining straps. Carefully lower the tank to access the top, and disconnect the fuel pump module wiring and quick-connect fitting. Disconnect any remaining components, then lower the tank to the floor. For installation, remove necessary components from the old fuel tank and install them on the new tank if applicable. Finally, tighten the fuel tank strap nuts securely.
