- A:Disconnect the wiring and quick-connect fuel lines from the fuel tank. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or floor jack, using a piece of wood to protect the tank. Remove the fuel tank retaining strap nuts and both retaining straps. Carefully lower the tank to access the top, and disconnect the fuel pump module wiring and quick-connect fitting.
