What is the purpose and functionality of the Supplemental Restraint System,Air Bag and Air Bag Control Module on Jeep Compass?

All models come standard with an SRS front impact airbag that provides main protection for the driver and the occupant on the front passenger seat during a head-on collision. The SRS is command by the Occupant Restraint Controller, known as Airbag Control Module, positioned in the centre of the car. It has the driver's air bag in the steering wheel, the passenger air bag in the Instrument Panel and side curtain air bags which can be optional along the side windows. This is initiated by front impact sensors and it has part such as the clock spring, which provides electrical signals to the airbags.
