Jeep Patriot Fuel Injector

In particular, the Fuel Injector in Jeep Patriot cars plays the most important role of sending the fuel through the carburetor into the engine cylinders to form the ratio of air and fuel for proper ignition. This system functions under the control of the engine control unit ECM as it decides the amount and the time at which the fuel is to be injected depending on the loads faced by the engine. Jeep Patriot models employ both direct and indirect fuel injection systems, with direct injection in which fuel is squirted directly into the combustion chamber and indirect fuel injection where fuel and air are first mixed before entering the chamber. These variation helps in improving the performance and efficiency of the engine though they may always develop a problem like clogs or leakage. It is recommended to perform routine checkups and change the bad fuel injectors in Jeep Patriot automobiles to avoid performance loss and risky damage to the engine parts.

Jeep Patriot Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Install Fuel Injectors and Fuel Rail on Jeep Patriot?
    A:
Remove the engine cover. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the fuel delivery line quick-connect fitting from the fuel rail. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors. Detach the injector wiring harness clips from the fuel rail and set the harness aside. Remove the harness retainers from the fuel rail bolt studs. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts. Carefully pull up on the fuel rail to disengage the injectors from their respective bores in the intake manifold, then remove the fuel rail and injectors as a single assembly. Remove the O-rings from each injector and discard them. Install new O-rings and coat them with some clean engine oil to facilitate installation of the injectors. Make sure that the injector is square to the bore of the mounting pipe and push it down into the mounting pipe until it's fully seated. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the fuel rail retaining bolts to the torque. Start the engine and check for leaks at the quick-connect fitting that connects the fuel supply hose to the fuel rail. Also look for leaks at the upper end of each injector, where it's installed into the fuel rail.
