Remove the Brake Caliper without disconnecting the brake hose; after taking out the caliper mounting pins, suspend the caliper out of the way, ensuring it does not hang by the hose or get stretched or twisted. Reinstall two lug nuts to hold the disc in place. Visually inspect the disc surface for score marks and damage; while light scratches and shallow grooves are normal, deep score marks over 0.015-inch require disc removal and refinishing. Check both sides of the disc, and if pulsating occurs during braking, suspect disc runout and verify the wheel bearings are properly adjusted. To check disc runout, place a dial indicator about 1/2-inch from the outer edge of the disc, set it to zero, and turn the disc; if the reading exceeds the allowable runout limit, the disc needs machining or replacement. It is advisable to resurface brake discs to ensure a smooth, flat surface, which can help eliminate brake pedal pulsations. If not resurfacing, deglaze the discs with sandpaper or emery cloth using a swirling motion for a nondirectional finish. The disc must not be machined below the specified minimum refinish thickness, which is cast into the inside of the disc, and can be measured with a micrometer at several points. Remove the two lug nuts that were holding the disc in place and slide the disc off the hub; for 2007 or later models, the caliper mounting bracket must be removed to take off the brake disc. Place the new disc over the wheel studs on the hub, and for 2007 or later models, install the caliper anchor bracket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque before installing the Brake Pads and caliper over the disc, ensuring the caliper mounting pins are tightened to the specified torque. Finally, install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground, and depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the brake pads into contact with the disc, checking the operation of the brakes carefully before returning the vehicle to normal service.
