To begin the process for models from 1987 through 1995, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, then remove the instrument cluster bezel. For 1991 and earlier models, detach the indicator bezel by removing the retaining screws. Next, remove the cluster and switch panel screws, pulling the cluster out far enough to access the electrical and speedometer connectors; on some models, it may be necessary to disconnect the speedometer cable at the transmission or cruise control adapter for sufficient slack. Unplug the connectors, detach the speedometer cable on later models, and remove the cluster, with installation being the reverse of removal. For models from 1997 through 2006, start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then remove the headlight switch knob and shaft.
