    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
Where is the Knock Sensor Located on Dodge Charger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The knock sensor for V6 engines is on top of the block, underneath the lower intake manifold. To remove it, remove the upper and lower intake manifolds. For V8 engines, there are two knock sensors on the left and right sides of the block below the exhaust manifold. To remove them, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting bolt. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

    Q:
How is the Knock Sensor installed for the 2007 Chrysler 300? Posted by Customer
    A:
Installation is the reverse of removal, with caution to tighten the mounting bolt to the correct torque.

    Q:
What should be done when replacing the Knock Sensor(s) for the 2009 Dodge Avenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Due to the work involved, both knock sensors should be replaced at the same time. To replace the knock sensor(s), relieve the fuel system pressure and drain the cooling system. Disconnect the negative battery cable. On 2007 2.7L engines, remove the cylinder head from the rear cylinder bank. On 2008 and later 2.7L engines and all 3.5L and 3.6L engines, remove the lower intake manifold. On 3.6L engines, also remove the engine oil filter housing. On 2.4L engines, remove the intake manifold (2014 and earlier) or the exhaust manifold (2015 and later). Disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the knock sensor(s). Remove the mounting bolt(s) and detach the sensor(s) from the engine block. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the knock sensor to the specified torque. On V6 engines, refill the cooling system.
